Based across all IMES locations Crane Maintenance Engineer Full Time, Permanent Salary DOA Closing date: 31 August 2024Purpose of the RoleDue to the continued growth of THREE60 Energy, we are seeking to hire a Satellite Crane Maintenance Engineer (IMES). To provide technical/engineering knowledge/ability and provide inspection and technical support in the installations, analysis, repair, and review of cranes, lifting equipment and mechanical handling systems in order to fulfil customer’s requirements and comply with associated codes, standards and regulations.Level of SupervisionWorks with minimal supervision by virtue of the experience, qualifications and competence required. Typically operates with a significant degree of autonomy, reflecting the high level of knowledge and skills they hold, and will revert to more senior colleagues for guidance or advice in exceptional situations. A “home” based role but will be required to support IMES D&I Depot activities at Portsmouth, Plymouth Rosyth and key clients at short notice and as required.Key Goals and ObjectivesUndertake the certification of lifting equipment to meet current legal standards and provide accurate reporting.Repair, new fit and refurbish lifting equipment. Note: When repairing lifting equipment an independent work colleague must carry out the testing of this equipment to verify the repairs where continued LOLER certification is required as part of the scope of workRepresent the Company at client locations in a professional, efficient, and effective manner which enhances the Company’s reputation.Undertake work in a proficient and safe manner adhering to relevant HSEQ procedures, processes, and standards.Act as a coach and mentor to less experienced team members.Provide ongoing support for LE management systems.Ongoing personal and competency development in line with business requirements.Job ResponsibilitiesTo undertake supporting assessments for lifting and handling equipment in accordance with the relevant design codes and regulation.To undertake regulatory and code compliance assessments of lifting and handling equipment designed by 3rd parties.Undertake critical structure, lifting and handling equipment assessments by interpretation of relevant manufacturer’s guidance and legislative requirementsTo undertake or assist with third party inspections, maintenance, installation and repair of equipment and systems in manufacture and construction.To interpret and advise on design aspects related to LOLER, crane and mechanical handling systemsProvide accurate and timely written reports of work undertaken.To attend Company/Client meetings as required.Carry out technical onsite audits as required.Undertake personal and professional development in line with company and institute requirements.To travel to and represent IMES at client locations at home and abroad (limited) including overnight stays, usually a few days at a time but up to 7 days or longer if required.Through support of the IMES Crane Engineering Team, develop the ability to: –Advise on Technical and Regulatory requirements.Perform the role of Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person to support safety case and hazard identification assessments.Provide advice and interpretation to customers on complex engineering aspects of Lifting Equipment and other Mechanical handling equipment, relevant codes and standards, material properties, thorough examination, testing, non-destructive examination.Support accident and failure investigationsProvide/review method statements, risk assessment and on-site management of activities.Carry out new crane installationsWork as part of the Group Services department in the assessments, repair and refurbishment of mechanical handling equipmentInclusion in the “On Call Rota”, at present one in three weeks but a flexible approach to covering colleague’s holidays is required.In addition, you will carry out any other duties that reasonably and naturally fall within your role and which the Company deems you to be competent to undertake.Line Management Responsibility?There will be a requirement to support your Service Manager in the development of the Maintenance Team by carrying out the duties described below:Assist in the recruitment and selection of direct reports in line with Company Policy – shortlist applicants, interview and appoint candidates and subsequently ensure a thorough induction process is completed (with support/guidance from the HR Department)Work with the Service Manager in the performance of Maintenance Technicians/Engineers – set and agree individual objectives, review achievement of targets, deal with talent management and assess and address skills gaps.Coach and motivate direct junior members of the Maintenance Team to develop an effective team that adds value to the business through increased performance.Comply with financial controls and ensure appropriate value-for-money principles are adhered to as well as identify opportunities for improved business performance.Plan, direct, supervise and co-ordinate work activities of subordinates.Set an example of professional conduct for others to aspire to – you will carry out your duties professionally and resolve any incidents of below-standard conduct immediately.Be a leader, take charge and direct when required, as well as offer opinions and comment to colleagues to achieve business goals.Other ResponsibilitiesHSEQYou will demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety, Quality and the Environment. [ ◉ ]Hold structured training qualifications in the field of lifting equipment inspection (LEEA Foundation and LEEA Diploma) [ ◉ ]Significant previous experience in general lifting equipment. [ ◉ ]Excellent written and oral communication skills. [ ◉ ]Excellent report writing skills. [ ◉ ]Able to work as part of a team or autonomously [ ◉ ]Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings [ ◉ ]Fault finding on electrical systems.
